Have you ever struggled with hair growth?
If the answer is yes, then you're not alone.
Did you know that 21 million women in the USA struggle to grow their hair? Starting at age 35 some women struggle with hair loss, and by the age 60 some women can lose 80% of their hair.
When your hair is struggling to grow and falling out it can be a real hit to your confidence and leave you feeling powerless, ashamed, and embarrassed.
Does your hair growth journey have you feeling like this?
Well, I have good news and questions: what if there were some things that you could do to start growing your hair?
I'd love to share a few simple ways that can help you grow your hair.
There’s nothing like a good scalp massage. Whew, it feels so amazing! I digress.
It’s no secret that a healthy scalp can contribute to healthy growing hair. One of the things that you can do to help your hair thrive is to incorporate scalp massages into your daily hair regimen.
In fact, a study conducted in 2016 found that scalp massages that are done daily for 4 minutes over a period of 24 weeks resulted in thicker hair amongst the participants and improvement in their alopecia.
Some think these results happened because massaging your scalp increases blood circulation to your follicles and in return stimulates them and makes hair grow out thicker.
It gets better.
Messaging your scalp has been shown to help lower stress hormones, blood pressure, and heart rate.
How to Massage Your Scalp:
You can massage your scalp with your fingertips and apply gentle pressure to each area of your head. You can do this on a daily basis for up to 5 minutes. And, yes, it feels so good. For an additional boost to your follicles, you can add a natural essential oil to massage into the scalp 3x times per week to really boost things.
Eating a nutritious diet is an important part of hair growth. To help your hair grow you need to consume a certain amount of micronutrients, or major groups of nutrients that all of our bodies need. These include Vitamin A, B12, C, D, Iron, and Zinc to name a few. A healthy and well balanced diet is a great way to get the proper amount of these nutrients. However, if you're like most people and struggle to get all of these nutrients in your diet, then you may want to take hair vitamins. These vitamins are often formulated with the key micronutrients that your body needs to produce healthy hair.
This also includes getting enough protein. Protein is key for hair growth because our hair follicles are made up of a protein called keratin. When your body is low on protein then you may experience hair loss because of an inadequate supply of protein to your hair follicles.
However, I am not a medical doctor so always first consult with your health care provider before making any major changes to your diet.
Studies have shown that certain essential oils can increase hair count and thicken hair.
Rosemary oil and peppermint oil have been found to be extremely beneficial for women. Pumpkin Seed is best for men. However, you should never apply essential oils directly to your skin – you will want to dilute them in your shampoo or with a carrier oil, like jojoba or olive oil.
You want an oil that offers the perfect blend of all-natural essential oils that seal in moisture and help promote growth like the PureFix Hair Elixir.

Chemicals and heat styling are two factors that can damage your hair and even potentially cause hair loss.
Protective styles and working to minimize how much damage you cause to your hair can help you grow your hair healthier. Try using products that help you seal in moisture so that your hair will not become brittle and dry while you’re wearing those protective styles. Treating your hair with a moisturizing leave-in cream prior to styling can help reduce dryness and prevent breakage.
I wish I had a magic wand that could make your hair go from bald to down your back instantly. However, that is not reality. But some people still have these unrealistic expectations.
Growing your hair in a healthy way will take consistency and persistence.
Did you know that when you’re born you have the total number of hair follicles on your head that you’ll ever have? On average, most people are born with about 100,000 hair follicles on their head. But it is important to know that those follicles grow at about 1/2 inch (1.27 cm) each month which is about 6 inches in a year. Therefore, you should be documenting your hair growth journey in 30 day increments at least for the next 90 days.

While you can try certain treatments to help your hair grow, remember that hair growth is often affected by other factors that you can and cannot control such as: genetics, hormonal changes, nutrient absorption, stress, trauma, and/or underlying medical conditions. Most importantly, do not compare your rate of growth with others you see on social media. Comparing your hair journey to someone else will leave you frustrated and confused.
There's no need to wait. You can start doing these things today or tomorrow morning to help grow your hair and love your hair.
Wake up 5 minutes early and massage your scalp while you're still in bed. Do this 3x each week.
Start by eating a nutritious breakfast and taking some hair vitamins.
Use hair oils and products that work.
Lay off the heat and chemicals.
Be consistent and realistic. So take a picture today and document your growth over the next 90 days.
